A WHOLE LOTTIE MOSS

Lottie Moss may have big boots to fill with a sister like Kate Moss, but she’s determined to do it her own way. The 19 year old model talks about why being ‘short’ doesn’t faze her, how the modeling industry is changing and just how much she really, really loves sloths.

Was modeling something you always wanted to pursue or did you have other career dreams growing up?

To be honest I never really thought about what I was going to do as a career as Storm Management approached me at such a young age. When I saw how fun and interesting the job was, I thought I may as well give it a shot and see if I am any good!

Do you feel pressure having the Moss surname and modeling?

Not at all, my sister and I are two different people and she is on her path and I am on my own, I just hope that I can become half as successful as she is.

Has you height ever been an issue? Do you feel it’s important to promote a wide range of diversity in fashion?

Traditionally height was something that was integral for a model, but I think that with the new generation of models coming through it is slowly starting to change, and I hope that I can partake in promoting the fact that you we are all unique and we should be proud of this. Everyone is different and to try and conform to one ideal is unhealthy and unrealistic. People do comment on my height… However I have a Bulgari ambassadorship and a contract with Chanel, and lots of other super amazing things on my record, so I guess what I am trying to say is always follow your dreams and do not give up because of what other people say.

What are your dreams and aspirations, besides modeling? Is there anything else you are really interested in pursuing?

I have lots of things in mind, which I would love to do… Designing my own range of clothes is a huge one! I would also like to do a lot more charity work, one of my lifelong dreams is to visit the sloth sanctuary and hopefully do some work with them.

Who are your role models?

My mother and father are huge role models for me. They have made me the person I am today and I am so thankful for everything they have done for me and for all their support and guidance.

You seem to be very close to your mum, is she happy you chose to become a model?

Yes she’s amazing and very supportive of everything. She gets so excited whenever she sees a new campaign or editorial, she’s my number one fan!

“MY MOTHER AND FATHER ARE HUGE ROLE MODELS FOR ME. THEY HAVE MADE ME THE PERSON I AM TODAY.”

What is the best and worst part about your job?

The best part is meeting so many cool and creative people and traveling to several amazing places, that I might not have had the opportunity to visit otherwise. And the worst part is (I guess) being away from family and friends.

What would your advice be to someone perhaps unsure if they could make it in the modeling industry, but wanted to give it a go?

As I said in one of my previous questions, don’t ever let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do, always try new things because you never know where you may end up. I know what it feels like to want to do something and not think you’re good enough. Trust me you will kick yourself in future if you didn’t at least try! You never know where it might take you.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style varies every day; I wake up every day and just dress depending on my mood and who I want to be that day. I also get a lot of my style from friends and people I see on Instagram.

What hobbies and activities do you enjoy outside of modeling?

I just love spending time with friends and family when I don’t have to work.

Who or what is your greatest love?

Food and sloths!

Where is your happy place?

My home in Sussex with my mum, dad, cat and dog… I love going home as I get looked after!

What popular trend are you obsessed with right now?

I don’t know if it’s a trend but I love Kimojis.

What is the biggest misconception about yourself?

People sometimes comment that they have a misconception about me and when they meet me tell me that they thought I was going to be a bitch… Maybe I have a resting bitch face!

If you could be remembered for being one thing what would it be?

To inspire people to do whatever they want to do in their life and not let anything or anyone stop them.
